Access to Ideas

Ideas are a gateway to economic prosperity. A good idea leads to companies and jobs, which in turn lead to a dynamic and robust economy. By connecting and supporting researchers and companies in their efforts to actualize ideas, Washington Technology Center promotes a strong, technology-based economy in Washington state.

For the past 25 years, Washington Technology Center has been supporting companies and researchers as they bring to life the ideas that drive our economy forward. Companies looking to expand their outside R&D resources, find technical expertise, or finance an R&D activity can apply to Washington Technology Center’s Research & Technology Development program.

Washington Technology Center is conducting nanotechnology research under a DARPA-sponsored project that investigates the commercial potential of low-cost, alternative lithography techniques. In a series of collaborations with University of Washington and Oregon State University, the program has investigated nanoimprint lithography and dip-pen nanolithography for biological and energy-conversion applications.

Each year, Washington Technology Center hosts an innovation summit that attracts industry, academic and government leaders. Participants gather for the day to discuss “hot” technology issues, learn about new markets and industries and share ideas.

Washington Technology Center and the Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies Institute co-host the annual Micro Nano Breakthrough Conference.  The conference attracts more than 300 researchers and business leaders working in nano- and micro-scale technologies throughout the Pacific Northwest.
