Accium offers laboratory services based on its Accelerator Mass Spectrometry platform used to detect 14C/12C ratios which provided 1,000 times more sensitivity than the most sensitive method available today such as LC/MS. It is now possible to trace biomolecule delivery in healthy subjects with low attomole (10-18M) sensitivity. As therapeutic research increasingly depends on nano-delivery devices sending very small amounts of drugs to specific tissues, Accelerator Mass Spect. provides the required level of nano-sensitivity to monitor and quantify the release of these drugs so that these devices can be calibrated. Accium will be the first USA company to provide AMS services.

Carbon Nanoprobes has developed a new process for creating carbon nanotube (CNT) tips for atomic force microscopes (AFMs), which will allow it to produce tips more efficiently than has so far been possible. AFM is an important nanoscale imaging tool, and its resolution is limited by the size of the very fine tip that it drags across the sample surface to create images of the sample’s topography. Conventional AFM tips are typically a few tens of nanometers in size, but a single CNT at the apex of an AFM probe can provide a resolution of less than a nanometer. Carbon Nanoprobes aims to enable applications not otherwise possible for AFM, like using a CNT tip or functionalized CNT tip to study proteins in their natural environment and aid in drug discovery.

Nion Company specializes in improving instrumentation needed for exploring nanoworlds quantitatively. Our initial efforts are focused on the scanning transmission electron microscope [STEM]. Nion's spherical aberration correction devices enable these microscopes to double their resolution and to increase the probe current available in an atom-sized probe by about ten times relative to an uncorrected STEM. STEMs equipped with the Nion spherical aberration correctors presently hold the world records for the highest directly interpretable resolution ever attained in an electron microscope, both at 100-120keV and at 300 keV.
