Our state’s nanotechnology leaders, including the Washington Technology
Center, Avogadro Partners, LLC, the University of Washington,
Washington State University and Battelle’s Pacific Northwest National
Laboratory, with seed funding sponsored by Senator Maria Cantwell, have
come together to launch the Washington Nanotechnology Initiative (WNI).
Our goal is to educate and mobilize business, research, academic and
political leaders to leverage nanotechnology to the competitive
advantage of Washington’s businesses through a six-step action plan. |
The six actions call for our state to:
|
|
Establish bold new nanotech discovery programs in key industries
| |
|
Recruit high profile technologists to our research centers and commercial organizations
| |
|
Develop a collaborative, interactive statewide nanobusiness community and increase our recognition and visibility worldwide
| |
|
Create applied development centers focused on nanotechnology processes, fabrication, product development and support services
| |
|
Develop and fund integrated nanotechnology research programs at our state universities;
| |
|
Train and educate our workforce in nano-related skills
